O Flower of Scotland…
When will we see your like again?
It’s been eight years since I studied abroad in Scotland, and I’ve been wistfully longing for years to go back for a visit. And now I can say that we’re finally planning a trip there!!! It will combine all my favorite things:
- Adam 🙂
- The rugged, gorgeous scenery of Scotland
- Whisky, whisky, whisky…
- Oh, and AN ULTRAMARATHON!
The Hoka Highland Fling (53 miles)
I’ve been eyeing this race for quite awhile as a potential option for us, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that we’re going to run it. It’s a trail race that follows the West Highland Way, Scotland’s oldest official long distance footpath, through the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Afterward, of course, distillery tours will be a key part of our post-race recovery. 😉
I’m also super excited that Adam has decided to join in on the fun! Last weekend’s 50K went really well for him, so he was open to the idea of a longer distance. Today was the official opening day of registration and we both signed up! We’ll aim to start real training in December or so, but we’ll do easy, fun runs until then. And I’ll start planning the rest of the trip as soon as possible! Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, Islay, here we come…
Is it April yet??? 🙂
